General Workshop Questions
How many students are there in a workshop?
We like to keep our workshops small and friendly, so we limit workshops to six for non sewing crafts and four for sewing related workshops (this is due primarily to the sewing machines taking up space!).
What should I bring?
All of our workshops have everything included! If you would like to bring your own fabric or tools, please just let us know in advance.
What age range are the workshops for?
Our general workshops are for adults of all ages. Teenagers are also more than welcome to attend. We have workshops specifically for children during school holidays, or you can book a private session by contacting the Studio.
When you say "beginners welcome" do you really mean it?! I have never sewn a stitch! Are your sewing workshops for me?
Our All You Need to Know to Sew workshop is excellent - we have yet to have someone leave without a great introduction to sewing as well as having completed their cushion cover! If you still don't believe us, we have a "100% satisfied crafter guarantee" - if you aren't happy with your workshop, we return your money, no questions asked.
What is the best way to book- online, call the studio or send it in?
You can do all three - but booking online is easiest as it takes payment by all major credit or debit cards. If you want to send it on or pay in person, you can do so with cash or cheque (made out to M.E.Howard).
I have a discount voucher - how does this work?
If you book a workshop and have a discount voucher, this will be applied to your remaining balance - for example:
The All You Need to Know to Sew Workshop is £40.00, and you have a 10% discount for booking a first time workshop with us
You pay the 50% deposit of £20.00 and the remaining balance of £16.00 on the day that you attend your workshop.
Where can I park?
Beech Road is a residential road so has plenty of free parking on both sides of the road (and a great view to boot!). Please be considerate when parking.
I want to do a workshop but it’s not listed?
We’re always very keen to hear about new skills and workshops that you’d like to see included on our evergrowing list. So please let us know if there’s something you’re dying to learn, and we’ll do our very best to find a tutor and get it on workshop schedule!
How do I book a workshop?
Simply browse our workshops online and click the link for the specific workshop that you would like to book for. You can book online with a credit card, debit card or PayPal account. (It isn’t necessary to have a PayPal account in order to book online). Alternatively, you can drop into the Studio and and pay in person by cash or cheque Please note 50% deposit is required in advance and the final balance can be paid when you attend the workshop.
What if I need to cancel?
If you find yourself unable to attend your booking, we can offer a refund if you notify us more than 14 days in advance. If cancellation is within 14 days of your booking I’m afraid we are unable to offer a refund. You can always send some one in your place though - just let us know of the name change please. A full refund will be given if your workshop is cancelled by us or you can elect to attend an alternative workshop instead, space permitting.
Can I bring my own sewing machine?
You certainly can. Please just let us know in advance and arrive for your workshop 20 minutes early to set up.
Miscellaneous
I think I may have a skill that could be a workshop - can I be a tutor?
We are always keen to hear from any skilled and friendly people able to run workshops. If you think you have what it takes, please email the studio or phone and speak with Maeri Howard.
Can I buy gift vouchers?
Yes, you can buy gift vouchers. They need to be redeemed within 6 months of purchase, and can be used against workshops or in our shop. We offer vouchers for either a specific workshop or a specific amount. Please contact the studio for more information.
Do you sell crafting equipment?
In the near future, we will be selling specific lines of crafting equipment. We have found that when people take our workshops, they are very keen to purchase items to be able to continue to do their craft at home. With this in mind, we are now researching wholesalers for the best possible prices so that whatever we sell on to you will be excellent quality and great value for money. Watch this space!
